Youth Ballet Program Classes
Barre
A poised and focused class rooted in classical ballet technique. Dancers work at the barre to refine posture, alignment, and musicality while developing strength and control. Each exercise is thoughtfully designed to cultivate precision, grace, and the quiet discipline of ballet’s foundation.
Centre Work
Moving beyond the barre, this class explores the artistry of ballet through centre work and traveling combinations. Emphasis is placed on balance, flow, and expressive movement. Dancers continue to refine technique while building confidence, spatial awareness, and a deeper connection to music.
Pointe
This class strengthens the feet, ankles, and lower legs to provide the foundation needed for safe and expressive pointework. Dancers build power, stability, and alignment through focused barre and centre exercises, supporting full-body movement with confidence and artistry.
Pre-Pointe
This preparatory class develops the strength, alignment, and control required for a safe transition to pointework. With a focus on injury prevention, dancers build stability in the feet, ankles, legs, and core through targeted exercises. Careful attention is given to technical foundations, ensuring dancers are physically and technically ready before advancing to pointe shoes.
Pilates and Stretch & Strength
A conditioning class that supports the dancer’s body through a blend of lengthening stretches and deep strength work. Inspired by mindful movement, this class enhances flexibility, core stability, and longevity in training. This class is ideal for dancers seeking alignment and resilience.
Floor Barre
A traditional ballet barre taken on the mat, where the altered centre of gravity allows the body to work in new and focused ways. Using the floor for proprioceptive feedback, dancers can better sense alignment, refine posture, and enhance technique. This method strengthens and lengthens the body while building awareness that elevates performance in the studio.
Competition Training
This class focuses on learning and preparing choreography for local competitions, including the Surrey Festival of Dance in April 2027. Students will have the opportunity to develop performance skills, stage presence, and artistic expression while working on their solo pieces. Our competition program is centered on encouragement, personal growth, and the joy of performing. Students gain confidence, build lasting friendships, receive valuable performance experience, and learn to celebrate both their own progress and the achievements of others.
Private Lessons
Private lessons offer one-on-one coaching tailored to each student’s individual goals. These sessions are ideal for any dancer seeking personalized attention, or for junior students preparing for competitions. Focus areas can include competition preparation, repertoire study, stretching, or learning contemporary or classical choreography. Lessons are designed to help each dancer grow at their own pace while refining technique and artistry.
RAD Exams
The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) examination program allows students to work toward recognized ballet qualifications while developing discipline, confidence, and technical progress. Students receive an examiner’s report, official RAD certificate, and performance adjudication following each examination. Eligible RAD examinations are recognized by the BC Ministry of Education as approved external credentials and may contribute toward high school graduation credits for qualifying students. Participation is based on each student’s readiness.
